SUREGROW SUPPORT FOR
LEADING INTERNATIONAL RIDERS

Suregrow has announced it is to support three of the Uk’s international riders this season, event rider Oliver Townend and dressage “icon” Richard Davison, as well as champion event and dressage rider Ruth edge. Providing fertiliser for all of the grassland at the riders’ yards and detailed seasonal management advice to maximize grazing quality.

Suregrow fertiliser, which can be usefully applied from early spring, when ground conditions permit, is a unique formulation designed specifically for horse and pony grazing. It contains a slower release form of nitrogen proven in trials to produce more sustained, better quality grass growth over a longer period and to facilitate uptake of nutrients essential to the wellbeing of horses and ponies. It produces consistent, steady growth of good quality grazing and it is safe to handle and spread, making it easy to apply.

RUTH EDGE CHOOSES SUREGROW FERTILISER TO MAXIMISE GRAZING QUALITY

Champion event and dressage rider Ruth Edge has become the third international competitor to choose Suregrow fertiliser for her grazing land, joining eventer Oliver Townend and dressage icon Richard Davison who are already working with Suregrow for the 2010 season.

Ruth’s well-respected attention to every aspect of the management of her horses already includes close attention to grazing and she says, “All of the horses are turned out as much as possible, so the quality of the grass they graze is really important, because it is the most natural part of their diet.

“As our land is clay and quite wet, being able to spread Suregrow fertiliser without removing the horses is a very important practical benefit and means we can manage the grazing more efficiently to fit with weather and ground conditions. In addition, improving the nutrient profile of the grass can only improve its nutritional value for the horses and I’m happy knowing that growth will be even throughout the season, because turnout will provide much more than just relaxation and time to be a horse.”

Suregrow’s Jonathon Cox, who has been advising Ruth on grazing management this spring, says, “All competition horses benefit from time at grass and Ruth, who has event and dressage horses, is like many successful riders in that she uses turnout for both nutritional and psychological benefits. She joins Oliver Townend and Richard Davison, both of whom are also highly respected for the management of their horses, in ensuring that the quality of her grazing is as good as it can be and we are delighted to be working with all of them.”

For Richard Davison, whose yard is managed to impeccably high standards, Suregrow fertiliser will help ensure nutritionally excellent grazing through the season. He explained, “I am impressed with the science behind Suregrow fertiliser and believe it will prove extremely beneficial to our grassland. Our horses enjoy their turnout time and by ensuring the grass they graze is providing a correct mineral and trace element profile, I feel Suregrow offers the potential to contribute significantly to their diet and wellbeing, which is very important to me.”

Oliver Townend, whose move to his current base last year heralded significant attention to grassland management, comments, “Turnout is well known to offer psychological benefits to all horses, but the value of grazing goes beyond that, as grass is a very natural and healthy way to feed. We have already applied Suregrow to ensure that early grass growth will be of a higher quality and contribute more to the overall diet. I am delighted with the advice we have received from Suregrow and by ensuring even grass growth throughout the season, we will be better able to maintain our grassland in optimum condition, which can only be good for the horses.”

Announcing the deal, Suregrow’s Jonathon Cox said, “Competition horses undoubtedly really enjoy time at grass and we are committed to supporting both Richard and Oliver in their grassland management to ensure that they can turn out onto grazing that is of the highest quality and offers the maximum possible nutritional benefit to their horses, whether youngstock, actively competing or enjoying a short break.”
