The Irish International knocked last year's champions, Phillip Miller and Caritiar Z to second place by two hundredths of a second in a thrilling jump-off. It was Breen's and his 14 year old horse fifth attempt to take the title finishing runner-up last year.

Adventure De Kannan did not let his disability get the better of him, sliding down the iconic Bank and hopping beautifully over the rails feet from the base, which defeat so many. But in then faulting at the Devil's Dyke, Breen drew level with Miller on four faults, sparking a jump-off.

Miller and Caritiar Z took off the front rail at the Privet Hedge giving Breen the opening he needed.

Following a long-term infection, the decision to remove Adventure De Kannan's right eye was made last year by Breen and owner Karen Swann. His preparation for Hickstead 2014 was disrupted by a minor ligament injury and he was kicked by another horse in the warm-up arena on Saturday.
